As a Meter Reader you will be responsible for collecting data from Gas, Electricity & Water meters for both commercial and residential properties. You will update and record meter reads accurately throughout the day on your handheld device at each location whilst providing excellent customer service.

 What we offer:

  • £13.43 per hour basic pay (Weekly pay).
  • £28,000 to £30,000 a year average earnings (depending on hours worked) plus additional bonuses averaging between £200 -500 monthly.
  • Overtime rates (£16 – £18) at manager’s discretion.
  • Weekly Hours 40 - 45 hours a week with agreed flexible start and finish times Monday – Friday (occasionally Saturday) between 8am - 8pm.
  • Up to 28 days holiday per year (on an accrual basis).

 What will you need:

  • Full UK Driving Licence – Minimum 1 year, maximum 6 points, NO DR Offences - (a driving licence is not required in some areas of Central London)
  • Physically fit - expect to walk on average 5 -7 miles per day, lifting manholes for water meters, climbing stairs, crouching and bending in tight spaces.
  • Happy to work in all weather conditions.
  • Clear DBS check (no unspent criminal convictions).
  • Credit Report check (No county court judgements, IVA, debt relief orders recorded for the last 6 years).
  • Previous Customer Service experience (preferred not essential).
  • Drive and motivation to work in an independent role.
  • Friendly personality with a professional approach to work.

 Duties:

  • Retrieving data from domestic, commercial, and industrial sites for Water, Gas and Electric Meters, full training will be given.
  • Carry out visual inspections of associated metering equipment.
  • Charge Point Surveys.
  • Adhering to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.

Training:

  •  Approximately 1 week which will consist of both classroom and field-based work with an experienced meter reader – this provides you the opportunity to see the role through an experienced meter reader’s eye.
