Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a permanent, full-time Mata Awhinuku - Operations Manager, Independent Living in the University Accommodation Wellington team. This is a new role that will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of operational resources across multiple locations, ensuring accommodation is well coordinated, operates efficiently and provides a high-quality student experience.

As a member of the Independent Living management team, you will:

  • Ensure operation processes across accommodation sites are consistent and up-to-date.
  • Implement the University’s quality, risk and compliance programmes.
  • Ensure health, safety and emergency management obligations are completed and evidenced.
  • Provide support for Tumuaki Taupuni - Heads of Halls to ensure a smooth operations and property team interface for student accommodation.

You will:

  • Have a working knowledge and experience of operating rosters, overseeing health and safety compliance, supporting emergency management, and business continuity.
  • Thrive in this role with an excellent manner with people, strong attention to detail, and self-management skills. This role is busy, challenging, rewarding and interesting.
  • Be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who enjoys working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing team.
  • Need effective time management and forward planning to balance meeting deadlines and maintain a high standard of service to both students and staff.
