Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Senior Student Recruitment Adviser to join Te Kahupapa - Future Students team on a permanent, full-time contract. This role will be embedded into Te Kauhanganui Tātai Ture - Faculty of Law and the Orauariki - Wellington School of Business and Government, and will work closely with the relevant Takitoru - Communications, Marketing and Engagement teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the recruitment events and activities for Te Kauhanganui Tātai Ture - Faculty of Law and the Orauariki - Wellington School of Business and Government, with the goal of increasing the number of domestic students choosing to study within these faculties.
  • Provide advice and support to your faculties on domestic recruitment opportunities.
  • Promote the study programmes from your faculties at recruitment events, expos, secondary school events, including hosting students on campus for Law/Commerce engagement experiences.
  • Networking and relationship building with colleagues in your faculties, secondary school Career Advisers and subject teacher networks.
  • Evaluate and monitor faculty recruitment initiatives.

You will:

  • Be customer-focused, highly organised and proactive.
  • Be confident in building working relationships and networks, have a passion for event management and enjoy a challenge.
  • Be comfortable with presenting to large groups and will use your experience in people facing roles to engage with a diverse range of audiences.
  • Have a university qualification and experience working in a university, tertiary or public sector environment.
  • Have the ability to work with people at all levels and establish working relationships and networks.
  • Have an understanding of the New Zealand secondary school systems.
  • Be available to travel outside Wellington and for working evenings and weekends on limited occasions.
