This is a hands-on finance role ideal for someone with strong experience in financial reporting, payroll, VAT, and team management who thrives in a dynamic SME environment.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments
• Manage payroll processing, P11Ds, HMRC submissions, and statutory reporting
• Submit accurate VAT returns and ensure compliance with financial regulations
• Deliver cashflow forecasting, daily financial updates and key business insights
• Support with budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making analysis
• Assist with year-end audit prep and liaise with external auditors
• Lead and mentor a small finance team
Requirements:
• ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
• Excellent knowledge of UK payroll, VAT, and HMRC regulations
• Strong leadership and organisational skills
• Previous experience in wholesale, distribution, or FMCG sectors desirable
