Salary: GBP30000 - GBP30000 per annum + Benefits

My client is looking for Tool Design Support Engineer to join on them on a permanent basis. As a Tool Design Support Engineer, you will be responsible for the provision of mechanical CAD expertise supporting the engineering department, with particular focus on tooling design. You will oversee creation, review and continuous improvement of tooling drawing while supporting the wider Tooling process to troubleshoot production defects in areas effecting tooling, for continuous development of company tools.

Pay:  From £30,000 per annum
Location: West London
Hours: Monday to Friday 40 hours per week

Job Profile

  • Design and develop new tooling concepts, supporting the Technical Process Manager and Tool Maker in creation of tooling drawings.
  • Where required, and in close liaison with either in house tool room, or external supplier developed detailed tooling design within the company CAD system (Solid Works)
  • As required, with internal and external tooling resources; provide technical liaison with support from the wider organisation.
  • Technical support of daily operations in all areas of documenting company tooling, including NEW, MODIFICATION and REPAIR of tooling
  • Creation of internal LTLGS tooling work instructions (as required) to document use and maintenance of specific tooling, to ensure a consistent quality output.
  • Working in collaboration with the technical team, investigate and develop new processes, methods, and layouts to increase equipment flexibility and improve throughput within OEM standard requirements, while also supporting TPM-Tooling to investigate and correct non-conformities and optimize tooling processes within the wider LHT Product Segment, as well as being responsible for creating necessary engineering documentation.

Skills/Experience Required
 

  • Proven CAD modelling and drafting skills (ideally SolidWorks), for tooling, jig and fixture design.
  • Knowledge to include modelling, drafting and complex assemblies. (Kinematics would be advantageous)
  • Experience in a metal component processing, including surface finishing operations.
  • Competent IT knowledge
  • High analysis, trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil technical information for both a technical and non-technical audience
  • An approachable team player, who proven to work in a matrix environment.
  • Highly Innovative, analytical, decisive, multi-tasked, and goal oriented individual is required with the ability to manage time and resources
  • The job requires the person to be flexible in terms of working schedule – based on the needs of the business. Some duty travel may be considered necessary to cooperate with other station within the company.
  • The role is office based, however day-to-day support of the company plating shop will require significant time within this area and therefore the employee will be exposed to toxic and corrosive chemicals.

Education & Training
Essential – Strong experience in a similar role

  • Minimum qualification HND in a mechanical discipline, with significant CAD experience Higher qualification considered if able to demonstrate genuine interest in pursuing tool design.
  • Training in Lean manufacturing, Continuous improvement, and Statistical Process Control would be beneficial.
