Specialty Doctor (part-time) - General Adult Psychiatry (4287) Surrey, England

Salary: GBP37500 - GBP37500 per annum + + Benefits

Join the team at Farmfield Hospital as a Specialty Doctor in General Adult Psychiatry, working part-time on their new acute male general adult unit 2.5 days per week with secretarial support and no on-call commitment.

Accepting this role would see you join this experienced Mental Health service, comprising a 52-bed secure unit with both MSU and LSU wards and two 14 bed acute general adult wards, to provide care for people with mental health conditions.

You’ll provide medical support to the Consultant and will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team where your innovative and forward-thinking approach will be allowed to flourish.

Other responsibilities:

  • Clerking in new service users
  • Writing reports for ICRs, CPAs and hearings
  • Attending and chairing said meetings in the Consultant’s absence
  • Assessing physical health and requesting appropriate tests, prescribing medication and keeping medication charts up to date, completing request form for MoJ and SOADs
  • Assessing service users for admission and reviewing those who are admitted to general hospital if required
  • Liaising with external providers to ensure smooth transition when moving service users to and from Farmfield Hospital
  • Completing ICR actions and keeping care notes dashboard up to date

You may occasionally be asked to help on the forensic side (such as seclusion reviews) if covering for the forensic associate specialist.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be medically qualified, MRC Psych or equivalent
  • Be innovative and imaginative with the ability to initiate corporate decisions
  • Have essential understanding of current developments in psychiatry and other aspects of mental health
  • Have substantial knowledge of change management, relevant legislation, contemporary issues in mental health
  • Have previous experience in a similar role
