Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer for our government client and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of our data infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in GCP services, particularly BigQuery, and familiarity with DBT. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in transforming and optimizing data into valuable insights for our organization.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design scalable data pipelines.
Develop, maintain, and optimize data integration and ETL processes using GCP services and tools.
Implement data transformations and business logic using DBT to create well-organized, accessible datasets.
Design and implement data models that support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence needs.
Monitor and ensure data quality, data integrity, and data consistency throughout the data pipeline.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines and data processing.
Keep up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in data engineering and GCP.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
4-6 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer for mid-level position, and 1-3 years for junior position.
Proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, particularly BigQuery.
Experience with Data Build Tool (DBT) is a plus.
Strong SQL skills and experience with data modeling concepts.
Knowledge of ETL principles and best practices.
Familiarity with data warehousing and data lake architectures.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Additional Information:

This is a 9 month contract position located in Sydney CBD.
