This Trainee program offers you on-the-job training in paid employment and the opportunity of a long-term career in the energy industry.

As a Production Operator Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience alongside qualified production technicians at a major gas processing facility. This is a 2-year Traineeship with ACEPT South Metropolitan TAFE on a Two Weeks On/Two Weeks Off/Two Weeks On/Four Weeks off roster.

As an MEGT trainee, you will gain:

  • Paid on-the-job experience on a major oil and gas project.
  • A nationally recognised qualification in your chosen field

  • Ongoing expert support from MEGT and your host throughout your traineeship

Duties:

  • Operate the plant, utilities and equipment
  • Monitor all plant equipment to ensure it is remains within the agreed operating parameters
  • Reports on daily operational figures
  • Communicate the constraints and performance issues to the relevant personnel
  • Prepares plant/equipment for maintenance
  • Undertake daily routine inspections on plant equipment and areas
  • General housekeeping
  • Responsible for the safety of themselves and others working in their area
  • Develop and amend procedures and operational guidelines in consultation with key stakeholders

Required Skills:

A Production Technician requires strong verbal communication teamwork and time management skills. You should have the ability to identify problems and implement solutions. The ability to work within the agreed parameters and work to the relevant procedures, this is vital to ensuring the safe and effective delivery of production.
