Lead Design Engineer

Remote working - 1-2 a month visit to site in Redditch

A world-renowned business who specialises in the supply of high-quality components into the automotive industry are currently looking to recruit a Lead Design Engineer. This business is developing evolutionary and revolutionary solutions to the industry, launching more than 20 new products in the last couple of years. As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and contributing to a diverse range of challenging engineering and cross functional projects supporting the European Aftermarket and Re-manufacturing businesses.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Leading design, development, and validation activity for aftermarket and re-manufacturing products. This will include development and reverse engineering of new components and assemblies, establishing product specifications, coordinating testing, conducting design reviews and release approvals.
• Responsible for providing engineering support and innovative solutions to business projects ensuring program deliverables are accomplished according to established schedules and budgets.
• Provide day to day technical support to the remanufacturing operations team, facilitate cost reduction and component recovery projects, support product launches and engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify and implement solutions for warranty or product quality issues, conduct supplier technical reviews.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the automotive industry preferred.
• Experience of relevant manufacturing processes
• Working knowledge of CAD, preferably Pro-Engineer Wildfire 2
• Knowledge of latest FEA techniques

Benefits Package:

• A starting salary of between £40,000 - £55,000
• Annual bonus – 5%
