Salary: GBP45000 - GBP50000 per annum

Job Purpose

The Proposals Engineer plays a key role in developing and reviewing technical and commercial proposals in response to tenders, ensuring they align with profitability targets and deadlines.


Main Responsibilities

  • Understand the company’s product portfolio to provide technically accurate solutions that meet client requirements and specifications.
  • Review technical proposal requirements, analyse project specifications, and develop appropriate technical solutions within tight deadlines.
  • Collaborate with senior project engineers, directors, and various departments (e.g., project management, finance, legal) to gather necessary inputs.
  • Support proposal and contract negotiations alongside the Director.
  • Lead technical proposal discussions, ensuring risks and responsibilities are clearly defined.
  • Obtain cost estimates for materials, consumables, and subcontracted work to develop proposals.
  • Maintain financial diligence by executing budget control to meet profitability targets.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures when compiling documentation.
  • Address client technical clarifications and attend clarification meetings when necessary.
  • Provide after-sales support to maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Adhere to Subsea Energy Solutions' Quality, Health, Safety & Environment Policies and company guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by directors or management.

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Degree/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, supported by relevant work experience. Alternative qualifications may be considered.
  • Experience in proposals or sales, ideally within the oil, gas, or renewable energy sectors.
  • Understanding of SURF (Subsea Umbilical's, Risers, and Flowlines) is advantageous.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and commercial awareness with a track record in proposal preparation and presentations.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Engineering drawing/drafting experience (SolidWorks) is beneficial but not essential.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining and fabrication, is an advantage.
  • Ability to manage multiple proposals simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with strong decision-making abilities and a flexible approach to work.
  • Highly proficient in computer applications.
  • UK Full Driving Licence required.
  • Must be able to work from the company headquarters in Catterick.
