Estates Bursar- Interim- 12 months (Benenden Estates/MR) Cranbrook, England

Situated in 250 acres of attractive parkland in Kent, Benenden is one of the leading independent schools in Britain. Over the last 12 years almost £30 million has been spent on improving every facet of living and learning at Benenden:
investing in facilities, widening the curriculum, extending activities outside the classroom, and improving its boarding facilities. Most recently they have opened a new All-Weather Pitch, Sports Pavilion and Staff Housing and are now working to build a new School Hall and Music School.
There are 550 girls in the school, aged 11-18 years. The all-boarding and all-girls model is unique in the UK.
They are now seeking a full-time Interim Estates Bursar for an initial period of 12 months.
The role has operational, budgetary and staff and contractor management responsibilities, as well as being the school’s Health and Safety officer. The post-holder is required to actively manage this key function, to ensure appropriate compliance with health and safety legislation at all times. This responsibility will include undertaking risk assessments, contractor safety checks and fire safety as well as DBS registers for contractors working on site. As such a recognised H&S qualification is essential with membership of an appropriate professional body preferred.
The Estates Bursar is responsible for planning the rolling maintenance and improvement programme and procuring contractors where necessary. For major projects the Estates Bursar is the link between the school’s senior management team, project managers, architects and contractors etc.
The postholder will need to be familiar with a range of security systems including perimeter and vehicle access (ANPR) as well as door entry systems, keypads, card readers, biometrics etc.
