Assistant Accountant – Finance Operations

Location: Melbourne CBD Employment Type: Full-Time + Hybrid Flexibility 

Are you ready to step into a role where your attention to detail, love for numbers, and drive to improve processes will make a real impact? My client is on the lookout for a motivated Assistant Accountant to support a growing Finance Operations Centre. 

What you’ll be doing:

This isn’t your typical back-office accounting role. You’ll be right at the heart of a dynamic and evolving finance operations team. You’ll:

• Process and manage payables and receivables with precision

• Prepare reconciliations, journals, and ensure accurate financial records

• Support month-end duties including accruals, prepayments, and ledger balancing

• Work collaboratively with teams across the business to ensure accounting accuracy

• Contribute to exciting finance transformation projects – including the rollout of our Finance Operations Centre

• Identify opportunities to improve systems and streamline processes

About you:

You’re not just good with numbers – you’re a problem solver, a collaborator, and someone who sees the bigger picture.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

• Have at least 2 years’ experience in an accounting or finance support role

• Bring a solid understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, and financial systems

• Can work independently but also know when to collaborate

• Are passionate about continuous improvement

• Communicate clearly and confidently with internal stakeholders

Nice to have, but not essential:

• Experience with TechOne ( but not essential )

• Intermediate Excel skills

• Progress towards CPA or CA qualifications
