Our client an established Hospital in Dublin wishes to recruit a Surgical SHO to join the team. This is a full time fixed term position, exciting opportunity to get your foot in the door of a reputable hospital.
Responsibilities:
* To follow the Hospital admission process by documenting History and Physical examination.
* To assess, review and document findings for patients as requested by the attending Consultant and / or Nursing Staff.
* To provide clinical cover for procedures undertaken in departments e.g. Radiology IVP Injections.
* To prescribe medications for patients as required i.e. as directed by Consultant and all patients admitted are seen by an NCHD and medications prescribed. To act as surgical assistant in the Operating Theatre when required by the attending Consultant as appropriate.
* To respond to emergency situations.
* To maintain effective liaison with medical staff training co-ordinator, nursing staff, healthcare staff, administrative assistants and NCHD colleagues.
*To respond to any Adverse Occurrences e.g. injuries, falls, sudden illnesses etc, suffered by patients, visitors or staff.
To actively engage in agreed Medical Staff Education Programme: both on site and at other hospitals.
* To participate in the NCHD On Call Rota.
* To undertake administrative duties in relation to issue of sickness certificates etc.
* To contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives wherever possible.
* To adhere to hospital policies and procedures e.g. blood guidelines, infection control.
* To implement quality standards ensuring that a quality service is provided at all times.
* To comply with Health and Safety Regulations, ensuring safe working practices and a safe working environment.
* To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Basic medical degree, MBBS or equivalent
* Current Medical Council Registration
Experience
* Minimum of two years previous relevant experience
Skills
* Demonstrate importance of evidence based practice and clinical effectiveness.
* Ability to communicate effectively with patients, senior medical staff and other health professionals.
* Proven ability to work as an effective team member.
* Organisational & interpersonal skills
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Leadership skills
* Good IT skills
