On behalf of our highly successful and rapidly growing Gloucester based e-commerce client we are seeking a Senior Front-End Web Developer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced front end developer with excellent web development skills, a passion for e-commerce, a desire to use modern web technologies and experience of team management to take the next step in their career into a highly rewarding role.
What will the role involve?
Working closely with the Web Development manager to set priorities and workflow the role will involve leading and inspiring a team of six web developers. You and your team will be tasked with working on the deployment of the company’s existing website onto a new platform, setting web development objectives, coding the in-house website whilst always driving towards using modern web technologies and best-practices. It will be your responsibility to manage the front-end web stack and maintain a full understanding of all architecture, set up advanced experiences and A/B tests, perform cross-browser testing, device optimisation and improve the website performance.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will come with at least 5 years commercial experience of front-end web development involving HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery and at least 3 years of team management/development team lead experience. We’ll also be looking for advanced CSS techniques (such as SCSS, BEM or flexbox) and advanced frontend techniques involving cache-control, etags, compression & optimisation and preloading. You should have detailed knowledge of web performance and optimisation best practices, Git version control and experience of working as a technical lead on a commercial focused web development project. Last but not least excellent attention to detail, a highly motivated approach and a drive and passion about learning and developing new skills and using the most modern development techniques will also be of importance.
