MRD Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Freight Forwarder on behalf of our Logistics client. My client is a global leader in their respective field. The Freight Forwarder is based in Wakefield and reports into the Operations Manager.

The successful Freight Forwarder, based in in Wakefield will organise the transportation of freight between several destinations across Europe.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities for Freight Forwarder:

• Considering and planning the most effective route for freight movement across Europe
• Maintaining a strong line of communication with the customer, keeping them up to date with the progress of goods
• Taking appropriate measurements for movement of goods
• Complying with countries legal requirements and ensuring appropriate documentation is completed
• Keeping up to date with legislative changes that may impact the transportation of freight
• Negotiation of rates with suppliers and customers and arranging suitable vehicles / transport arrangements
• Communicating effectively with the wider operational department

Knowledge, Skills & Experiences for Freight Forwarder:

• Ideally holds experience in the freight forwarding and/or transport industry
• Experienced in working in a high volume, fast paced environment
• Highly motivated with a drive to succeed
• Operational knowledge and experience of processing domestic road freight
• Passionate about providing excellent customer service and service delivery
• Accuracy and precision to avoid any errors when data inputting
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Good communication and customer service skills
