Central Operations Team Support

Rullion have an opportunity for an experienced Train Driver, on a short term contract with a major rail company based at their new Rail Technology Centre in Widnes. This is an excellent opportunity for train drivers to gain experience in a different part of the rail industry

Purpose of the Role
The facility has been opened in line with the repaint project as part of a refurbishment of over 50 trains. The role of Central Operations Team Support is to work alongside the Operations team and assist with train movements and health and safety.


Location
Based in Widnes, this brand new train care facility opened in 2017. Excellent road links to the motorway system and local areas


Start Dates
For successful candidates, start dates are immediate following an interview and panel test


Envisaged Hours: 20 Hours/Week – this will consist of days and nights

Rate: £22.30/hour for all hours worked Limited Company

Job Description:
• Carry out and co-ordinate Shunting, Driving and Controller assessments and also carry out /
co-ordinate other operational assessments such as communications protocol, operations
underpinning knowledge etc.
• Adhering to Railway Group Standards Agreed Code of Practice 3551 Train Driving, GORT 3251 Train
Driving and GORT 3260 Competency, GE/RT 8000 Rule Book. To ensure the safe operations of train
movements
• Obey all Rules, Regulations and Instructions applicable to the post.
• Obey instructions given by those in charge at places of work, except where you believe there is an
imminent danger to yourself or others.
• Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of other persons who may be
affected by your acts or omissions.
• Co-operate as far as necessary to enable Alstom Transport to discharge their statutory duties.
• Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of safety
• Maintain knowledge of Railway Operational safety regulatory and other requirements
appertaining to the UK rail industry.
• Assist in Maintaining Transport UK Operational Railway safety documentation


Experience Required:
• The candidate should have footplate experience on the mainline,
additionally hold a D32 and IV1 if possible.
• A good knowledge and understanding of railway operational
activities specifically associated with controlling rail vehicle
movements in depots and factories. A working knowledge of track
infrastructure and its maintenance and a high level of knowledge
related to competency assurance and training requirements for
operational staff.
• A minimum of ten years industrial experience, preferably within the
Railways
• Knowledge of applicable regulatory and specific Rail Industry
safety, quality and environmental standards.


Skills:
Communication, influencing and strong inter-personal skills. Fluent in English.
