Electro/Mechanical Service Engineer (BBBH22494) Newton Abbot, England
We are looking for a Field Service Engineer for our client's growing business located near Newton Abbot.
The ideal candidate will need to be a self-starter, with experience of working in this environment, able to communicate effectively with both colleagues and customers but also have a friendly and approachable “can do” attitude to fit in with the rest of the team on site.
- Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30AM to 5:00PM (may vary due to being out on the road)

The Role:
The role is very multi-skilled and will not be limited to Field Service work alone, you will also be required to carry out repairs of customer equipment and plant within our busy workshops.
- You will be working and travelling throughout the South West predominately, occasionally working further afield.
- You will perform maintenance and breakdown cover to a wide variety of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, along with routine servicing of both hydraulic power packs and compressors.
- A good understanding of computer systems in a fast moving environment would be a distinct advantage.
- Working closely with the Engineering and Technical teams on site to provide support and ensure that both customer and company needs are met as efficiently as possible.
Responsibilities:
- To assemble complex hydraulic & pneumatic systems in workshop and at customer’s premises to detailed drawings.
- To test complex systems on schedule to ensure correct operating criteria are met before delivery to customer.
- To run up and test compressors before delivery to customers.
- To install and commission complex hydraulic/pneumatic systems at customers premises (individually/with a team)
- Able to fault find on complex electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems with little information.
- Fault diagnosis, inspection and repair of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, pumps and motors.
- Manufacture and install pipe work systems for high pressure hydraulic systems and pneumatic ring main systems.
- May be required to attend breakdowns at very short notice, some overtime and weekend working will be required.
- Promoting the company at all times when communicating with customers.
- Carry out repairs both on site and in the workshop in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills, experience of Word and Excel to an intermediate level is essential.
- Must have experience of working with electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Must hold a relevant engineering qualification to a minimum of NVQ Level 3
- An ability to weld and fabricate equipment would be advantageous.
- Experience of basic turning and milling operations would be advantageous
- A working knowledge of “Star Delta” starters and fault finding on electrical control circuits would be advantageous
- Must have held a UK driving licence for a minimum of three years.
- Ideally 3-5 years experience in a similar service role within and engineering or plant maintenance environment.
- May suit someone from a factory maintenance background looking to get into service work
