Junior Design Manager - Sydney

A specialist builder with over $400M+ annual revenue, 150+ staff and 80%+ repeat clients that include REITs, developers, and owner-occupiers. My client is looking for someone who is relatively junior in their design management career and is keen to grow in a well-structured and respected firm.

The Position

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an up-and-coming Design Manager to gain hands-on experience in large-scale D&C projects. Working closely with senior project and design managers, you'll play a critical role in coordinating the design process, ensuring that projects meet their time, cost, and quality objectives.

The Junior Design Manager will support design activities from concept to completion.

Salary will be in line with market but figures between $110,000 - $140,000 can be expected

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating design meetings with internal and external stakeholders
• Support design reviews, identify cost-saving opportunities, and resolve technical challenges
• Work closely with project management teams to ensure smooth project delivery
• Monitor progress to ensure that key milestones are met, adhering to timelines and budgets
• Generate reports for senior management to track design and construction progress
• Help navigate the approvals process to get projects started on the right track

Key Skills & Experience

• Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or related field (or currently completing)
• Minimum 1 years’ experience with a head contractor / builder - Client side experience will be considered
• Interest in buildability, budget management, and design coordination
• Ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Experience working to Australian building standards is essential
