Head Of Service – Ofsted Registered Responsible Individual (HC/SPE) London, England

Salary: GBP60000 - GBP75000 per annum

As the Ofsted registered Responsible Individual, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring that the homes provide the highest standard of care to the children and young people in the service.

Responsibilities

As Head of Service, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and compliance of the children’s homes. You’ll work closely with Registered Managers to ensure that the services meet all legal requirements as set out in The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, and you’ll be accountable for the safe and effective operation of the homes.

  • Providing strong leadership and operational management to ensure high standards of care for children and young people.
  • Overseeing compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and internal audits.
  • Regularly visiting homes, building meaningful relationships with the children, and ensuring their care plans are being met.
  • Supporting and holding Registered Managers accountable for the performance and compliance of their homes.
  • Driving continuous improvement and development across all services, ensuring each home is always Ofsted-ready.
  • Managing resource allocation, ensuring effective placement matching and stability for children.
  • Ensuring staff are fully trained and supported in their roles, keeping up to date with best practices and legislation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within children’s services, preferably within a residential care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership, management, and communication skills.
  • A passion for making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.
  • The ability to manage complex operational responsibilities while maintaining a child-centred approach.
