My client is looking for a number of Mechanical Design Stress Engineers to join them on a contract basis.
The Turbomachinery and Heat Exchanger Analysis and Design group within the Mechanical Systems and Components (MS&C) directorate is responsible for the design, development and analysis of Environmental Control System (ECS) turbomachinery and heat exchangers, as well as LSS and Oxygen backup systems.
The successful applicant will be responsible for stress, vibration, and heat transfer analyses.
Responsibilities include providing technical expertise on a variety of projects and programs. You will use your expert knowledge of engineering discipline and standards, processes and tools to ensure compliance to customer and program requirements. Other responsibilities include communicating with Project engineering teams, conduction of design reviews, presentations to internal and external customers and contributing to department process improvement initiatives.
Role: Mechanical Design Stress Engineer
Pay: £35 - £45 per hour (depending on experience) PAYE only
Location: Yeovil - on site for first 8 weeks (The client will offer the first month accomodation support up to £400 per week). Hybrid working can then be considered.
Hours: 37 - 40 hours per week (Can be worked over a 4 day week)
Security Clearance: Candidates MUST be UK passport holders to be eligible
Job Profile
- Perform stress analysis using complex finite element & classical book calculation methods, & support testing
- Perform heat transfer analysis in practice and theory (analytical correlations and complex finite element methods) and related topics in thermodynamics, single and multi-phase flows, and energy systems
- Provide technical oversight to global engineering teams across time zones

Skills/Experience Required
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or closely related field with emphasis in heat transfer or thermal sciences & stress analysis
- Proficiency in linear static, nonlinear/elasto-plastic, fatigue (HCF & LCF), modal, shock, harmonic, random vibration, & crack growth analyses
- Strong working knowledge of ANSYS finite element software & classical hand calculation methods
