MRD Recruitment is hiring a Production Manager for our manufacturing client, based in Kilwinning. The Production Manager based in Kilwinning will report into the Ops Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, people centric Production Manager to join an energetic team and provide leadership and ensure operational excellence.

As Production Manager, based in Kilwinning you will play a crucial role in reviewing quality performance and driving health and safety. My manufacturing client, based in Kilwinning is looking for a dynamic Production Manager, who is passionate about managing production operations and optimising processes and the efficiency of their operations.

Production Manager Key Accountabilities:

  • Carry out all activities in full compliance with H&SE legislation, within company policy and procedure.
  • Responsible for reporting any unsafe acts or unsafe conditions observed in accordance with responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act
  • Lead motivate and develop their team, to ensure planned output requirements, and quality standards are met whilst ensuring all H&S guidelines are followed.
  • Ensuring the teams have sufficient skills and knowledge to cover all process areas.
  • Review team performance regularly to identify areas for improvement and encourage progress of individual team members through performance review and developing and delivering agreed personal development plans.
  • Ensure all site-specific Quality, Housekeeping and Hygiene standards are achieved.
  • Carry out activities required as building owner, ensuring all maintenance activities are concluded in line with plan and ensure risk assessments for production area related operations are reviewed regularly and updated as required.
  • Responsible for the HR aspects of production staff e.g. absence monitoring, performance management, disciplinary issues.
  • Responsible for carrying out all direct staff objectives and reviews.
  • Ensure that all buildings, magazines, and equipment used in the department are tidy, well organised and maintained to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Ensure that hazardous waste is minimised, appropriately stored, and disposed of in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Assume responsibility for all material and finished goods movements on shift.
  • Ensure regular communication/briefing to provide the team with the relevant information to carry out their shift to maximum effect.
  • Deputise for the Ops Manager as required.

 

Production Manager Education and Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline
  • NEBOSH
  • Strong influencing & leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of H&S requirements associated with the manufacture of Energetic Products and materials.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of managing manufacturing teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of implementing change programmes.
  • LEAN, Six Sigma knowledge desirable.
  • Continuous improvement experience
  • Process and procedurally orientated.
  • Excellent Problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in motivating, coaching & influencing others.
  • Able to deal with and manage conflict should it arise.
  • Understanding of criticality of compliance with site rules
