Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Desktop/Client Services IT Technician to join our IT Team at Te Wāhanga Waihanga-Hoahoa - Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation on a permanent, full-time basis. The team is responsible for operational client support to our staff and students, for the Faculty’s fleet of Windows CAD/Design specialist workstations and associated IT/AV technology support.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provision of helpdesk and desktop support to our staff and students. Support is person-to-person desk-side within staff offices and our student teaching and learning spaces, including architectural/design studios, computer labs, and workshops.
  • Operational support of teaching spaces and associated IT and audio-visual (AV) presentation equipment within our seminar rooms, lecture theatres and teaching studios, and support of events and outreach activities.

You will:

  • Ideally have a formal tertiary IT related qualification, or relevant industry experience, providing desktop client support to a medium to large sized organisation.
  • Be able to provide excellent client support, and comfortable working deskside in the client premises providing face-to-face support.
  • Ideally have had previous experience providing audio-visual (AV) support to a small to medium sized organization.

We have a small team of four IT staff, supporting nearly 1,000 Windows desktop computers at our Faculty, ranging from standard office computers and laptops to highly specialised CAD/Design workstations. The team being part of Te Wāhanga Waihanga-Hoahoa - Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation is situated at the Te Aro campus. This is a vibrant downtown campus in the heart of the Cuba street district. The team work closely together enabling cross support for critical teaching operations and projects and are part of a broader technical support team within the Faculty.
