Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Pūkenga/Pūkenga Matua - Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Education to join Te Puna Akopai - School of Education on a permanent, full-time contract. We are looking for applicants who have particular expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • English as an Additional Language teaching.
  • Comparative education policy.
  • Environmental education and methodologies.
  • Educational technology, including the use of AI in education.
  • Educational leadership.
  • Educational pedagogy, assessment, and evaluation.

Ō pūmanawa - About you

You will:

  • Hold a PhD in Education or a related field.
  • Be expected to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, primarily in the BA Education and the Master of Education programmes. Some teaching in the School’s initial teacher education programmes is also desirable, depending on your research and teaching expertise.
  • Supervise Masters and PhD students, provide service to the School, Faculty and University, maintain a programme of research and work to secure external research funding.
  • Be highly engaged with local and national communities and within your own research community.
  • Ideally, hold a registration and full certification with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand and also have the ability to undertake visits of student teachers on professional practice placements in early childhood services and schools.
