The PMO team are looking for four enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals to join the Planning Practice. As a Trainee Planner you will be given structured training after which you will progress to the Planner role if completed successfully.
 
 

Job Purpose :

To undertake an internal training programme to learn the skills and techniques required to perform a Project Planning role within NATS. To maintain, report, manage detailed plans and assist in creation of Project Plans, for Project Managers under supervision of an experienced planner.  To assist and support the Project Manager by providing accurate and timely management information to enable successful delivery of project outcomes.
 

Principal Accountabilities:

Under the supervision of a qualified planner, undertake:
  • Accurate and timely development of the project schedule and associated costs that capture all the work required to achieve the project’s objectives within the project’s Business Case.
  • The collection, correlation and evaluation of project progress data from Work Package Managers to ensure that project progress can be measured against the project schedule baseline.
  • The analysis of project performance and Critical Path, reporting status and potential problems to the project manager. Attend reviews and meetings to support the Project Managers, providing data and reports to give visibility of project status and performance.
  • The accurate and timely progress reporting to the Project Manager in line with the latest published reporting calendar throughout the project lifecycle.
  • The planning, creation and maintenance of the Project schedules in conjunction with the Schedule Generation and Maintenance process.
  • Reporting for project finance, working closely with project/management accountant to analyse project spend and budget whilst tracking spend against Approved WP Documents.
  • The design and creation of a Work Breakdown Structure that meets the technical requirements of the project.
 

 Essential Qualifications and Skills : 

  • Basic analytical skills coupled with good attention to detail with the ability to develop strong skills in both areas.
  • Have good organisational skills to be able to grow in this role.
  • An aptitude to planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills essential to be able to work effectively with others.
  • Effective communication skills both verbal & written.
  • Drive to progress and develop additional skill set within project environment.
  • Educated to GCSE grade C as a minimum (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
 
Desirable Skills:
  • Working knowledge of relevant systems (Excel, SAP, MSP, BW, and PowerPoint).
  • Basic knowledge of the project environment or ATC / technical background.
