Safety Environmental Manager

Safety Environmental Manager (1405) Romford, England

Salary: GBP50000 - GBP52000 per annum

Within our HSSE department we are now looking to for an experienced Safety Environmental Manager to join our team to support the Head of HSSE in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) at our Romford site.

Reporting to the Head of HSSE you will be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing, and managing environmental health and safety programs.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations related to environmental management.
  • Conducting risk assessments and implementing strategies to prevent accidents and environmental incidents.
  • Leading investigations into safety and environmental incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Managing and improving the organisation's Environmental Management Systems, including ISO 14001.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental safety considerations into various processes.
  • Developing and delivering training programs to employees on environmental safety practices.
  • Monitoring and analysing environmental data to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Liaising with regulatory agencies, community stakeholders, and internal teams on environmental safety matters.
  • Contributing to the development of sustainability initiatives and promoting a culture of environmental responsibility.
  • There is a requirement to work varied shift patterns at occasions, including late turns, nights and weekends as required.

To be successful in this role you will need:

Essential Criteria

  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Safety Engineering, or a related field as well as Nebosh Environmental qualification.
  • Professional certification in environmental management or safety (e.g., CEnv, CSP, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in environmental safety management, including a track record of successful program implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 standards and experience in managing Environmental Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments, investigations, and implement corrective actions.

Desirable Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
  • Additional professional certifications in specific environmental or safety specialties.
  • Experience in working with diverse stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and community groups.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in environmental safety.
  • Skills in data analytics and proficiency in environmental modelling tools.
  • Previous experience in conducting environmental impact assessments.
  • Training in crisis communication and emergency response planning.
  • Familiarity with corporate social responsibility (CSR) principles and practices.
