 About the Role:

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to take ownership of a high-impact transformation program. You will lead the design, development, and execution of a project to consolidate payroll operations from a state-wide structure into a centralised function—enhancing efficiency, compliance, and scalability.

Duties:

  • Lead the end-to-end transformation of payroll operations across multiple business units
  • Design and implement a centralised payroll model, including structure, processes, systems, and governance
  • Conduct audits and gap analysis of current state payroll functions
  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders across HR, Finance, IT, and business units
  • Drive system optimisation, automation, and standardisation across payroll platforms
  • Ensure alignment with compliance, regulatory, and industrial obligations
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, reporting, and change management initiatives
  • Build and mentor a high-performing central payroll team post-implementation

Skills & experience:

  • Proven experience leading large-scale payroll transformation or centralisation projects
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements
  • Experience with complex, multi-entity or government/state-based payroll environments
  • Expertise in payroll systems with the ability to extract data, integrate within multiple systems and
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, leadership, and change management skills
  • Strategic mindset with strong project management capability
