Duties
The Senior Payroll Specialist will manage payroll processing and two team members, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery in line with relevant legislation and policies. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong payroll technical expertise. The specialist will also provide back-up support to the Payroll Manager and offer operational guidance to the team to ensure smooth payroll operations.
Duties:
- Process end-to-end payroll for each pay run, ensuring accurate and timely payments to employees.
- Ensure compliance with Awards, Agreements, Company Policies, Fair Work Legislation, Payroll Tax, Superannuation, and other relevant laws.
- Interpret EBAs and Awards.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including site admins and finance teams, on payroll matters.
- Implement payroll changes for new or amended industrial instruments.
- Lead and develop the Payroll Officer and Payroll Support Officer to deliver high-quality payroll services.
- Maintain excellent customer service standards across the business.
- Assist the Payroll Manager with reports, reconciliations, and payroll compliance tasks.
Skills + Experience
- Previous experience in a payroll specialist or leadership role is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, and best practices.
- Experience with Preceda or Dayforce is a plus.
- Proficient in payroll systems, data analysis, and report generation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to implement and optimise payroll technologies.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Strong team collaboration skills.
