Maintenance Planner

Maintenance Planner (BBBH203) Broxburn, Scotland

Salary: GBP35000 - GBP40000 per annum + plus excellent benefits

MRD Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting a Maintenance Planner on behalf of our manufacturing client. My client is a market leader in their respective field. The Maintenance Planner is based in Broxburn and reports to the Engineering Manager.

The successful Maintenance Planner, based in Broxburn, will be accountable for all engineering maintenance planning on-site. They will be responsible for the management and upkeep of the company systems, ensuring that all engineering work is captured and reported through the system on an ongoing basis. They will coach, train and develop team members to achieve “Best in Class” maintenance procedures, and personal and organisational performance.

They will communicate engineering maintenance planning updates to local team members and site-wide teams on an ongoing basis.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for own compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, Legal and Quality systems on-site
  • Responsible for capturing any health and safety requirements for planned maintenance as part of the work order that is issued to the maintenance team
  • Reporting compliance against work completion regarding health and safety and compliance works on an ongoing basis
  • Fully conversant with the site Emergency plans
  • All equipment / assets on site are captured within the company systems
  • Development and upkeep of a robust planned maintenance regime for each asset on site and making sure the completion of these tasks on time and in full to an acceptable standard
  • Carry out regular review of planned maintenance regimes to ensure they are accurate and adding value to prevent machinery failures on site. If changes are made capture these changes and reasons for them
  • All maintenance regimes have an estimated duration, skills requirement and any spare parts identified
  • All on-site engineering works is captured through the company systems with time taken and any spare parts consumed to enable a total cost of ownership to be worked out for each asset
  • Any major intervention or project work is managed and captured in the systems
  • Formal KPI’s are produced to show progress against the AMIS improvement journey
  • Support and drive engineering improvements by identifying projects to improve onsite maintenance and asset reliability
  • Support root cause analysis into machinery failures to improve line uptime on site and feedback any improvements to the planned maintenance regimes that are in place
  • Support local improvement projects
  • Support and facilitate teamwork and team development within the engineering department
  • Accountable for department objectives aligned with business initiatives
  • Formal weekly plan in place and issued to the wider engineering team with all planned work with associated resources and spare parts in place to support completion
  • Review the quality of data coming back as part of the work order completion process to make sure it is accurate and captures all work carried out prior to closing
  • Track weekly compliance against the issued fixed plan
  • Look for opportunities to improve the planning process to make it more efficient and value add
  • Issue weekly KPI’s to show ongoing performance and opportunities for improvement
  • Work closely with the site production planner to make sure that the weekly plan is achievable, and any required downtime on the lines is captured as part of the weekly production plan
  • Capture any external contractor works as part of the weekly plan
  • All stock items are listed on the system with supplier and price
  • Any stock item used is booked out through the system and assigned to a work order and ultimately asset
  • Regular stock checks are carried out to ensure the accuracy of the stock both physically and on the system
  • All critical spares are identified and marked as being critical within the stores area
  • Reports are in place for stock holding and stock turnover as required
  • Orders are raised through the purchasing system for any new or replacement parts

Knowledge, Skills & Experiences

  • Engineering experience 5yrs+
  • Understanding of computerized maintenance management system and implementation of Planned Maintenance
  • Demonstrate strong coaching skills
  • Good knowledge of H&S
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • IT literate
  • Team Player as well as the ability to work on own initiative
  • Must have experience working within food manufacturing environments
  • Be adaptable, flexible and demonstrate a willingness to accept changes in operational requirements at short notice
