Pūkenga/Lecturer
Base salary range:NZ$83,776-$99,221 per annum
Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting one permanent full-time Lecturer (equivalent to tenured assistant professor) to join the Cultural Anthropology programme. The appointed lecturer will ideally begin in July 2023, though a later start date can be negotiated.
Position
We seek a scholar conducting innovative teaching and research in medical anthropology. Additional expertise in human rights, humanitarianism, or visual/multimodal ethnography is desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and delivery of core courses in the Cultural Anthropology programme.
- Develop new curricula and research in their areas of expertise.
- Supervise MA and PhD researchers to completion.
- Contribute to Hautūtanga/leadership, administrative roles, and engagement with the wider community.
- Be part of an active, collegial team committed to equity and diversity, and aspiring to research and teaching that engages mātauranga Māori and upholds our responsibilities to te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
You will be a collaborative scholar-educator, committed to high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, who is developing an innovative independent research agenda.
Key requirements:
- A completed PhD (in hand at time of application) in Cultural Anthropology or a similar discipline (including, but not limited to, Māori Studies and Pacific Studies).
- Some experience in teaching at a tertiary level.
- A developing research profile, with evidence of scholarly publications.
- Capacity to work as part of a collegial team.
