About the role 

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an Institute Administrator to join the 

Administration “Kahiwi” Team at the Ferrier Research Institute on a full-time permanent contract.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the creation of a positive work environment with efficient and effective employment contract management, personnel management support and team building events.
  • Provide support to those responsible for the Institute’s Postgraduate Students.
  • Provide overlap in Institute administrative duties to ensure seamless administrative support to Ferrier’s internal and external customers.

About you  

You will be a motivated, customer-focused individual who can take the initiative, provide excellent administration and personnel management support. 

You will thrive in this role with an excellent manner with people, an ability to influence and create a strong positive culture synonymous to that of the “Ferrier Family”. The role is varied but extremely rewarding as you will become the next member of a supportive, collaborative and respectful environment. 

Your strong attention to detail, and self-management skills will be an advantage for this busy role within the high-performing Kahiwi team. The mission is to provide an efficient and effective administration service to all Institute personnel, to enable world-class science research.

Effective time management and forward planning is a must, to balance meeting deadlines and maintain a high standard of service to both students and staff. You must have the ability to remain calm under pressure and thrive working with a diverse range of stakeholders.  

Key Requirements: 

  • Experience with employment and contract administration.
  • Experience in a tertiary institute or similar
  • Outstanding people and communication skills including the ability to adjust to different 

audiences. 

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Capability to work as part of a team as well as having individual responsibilities.
