Cost Control Engineer (06/12/2024) Paris, France

We are looking for a Cost Control Engineer for one of our clients with the following details:

Location: France (La Défense)

Start Date: January 2025

Contract Duration: 12 months (renewable)

Status: Residential

Qualification and Experience Required:

  • Education: Degree in Accounting, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Language: Fluency in English (mandatory).
  • Skills: Strong analytical abilities, understanding of project execution and handover requirements, and excellent IT proficiency.

Experience:

  • 10-15 years in professional roles.
  • 5-10 years in similar cost control positions, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Familiarity with cost control systems and tools like SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF software.

Mission / Scope of Services

  • The Cost Control Engineer will oversee and coordinate cost control activities for contracts required during the project's lifecycle and FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) activities up to close-out. The role includes ensuring compliance with company procedures and providing financial oversight to maintain cost efficiency and transparency.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance and Conduct

  • Uphold exemplary behavior aligned with the company's "Code of Conduct" and HSSE regulations.
  • Implement and adhere to HSE rules within the area of responsibility.
  • Stay informed on company policies and procedures related to cost control.

Core Activities

  • Coordination: Organize and oversee all cost control activities for the project.
  • Budget Management: Assist in preparing, consolidating, and reviewing budgets (annual, multi-year) and updates with inputs from the project team.
  • Invoice Approval: Review and approve invoices, ensuring compliance with contracts, company policies, and financial standards (e.g., Sarbanes & Oxley).
  • Cost Monitoring: Track and report cost trends, drifts, and variances; maintain the final cost estimate and produce monthly cost reports with analysis.
  • Liaison with Finance: Collaborate closely with the Finance Department on commitments, invoice payments, accruals, and payment claims.
  • Cost Coding: Provide advice and recommend improvements to the cost-coding structure.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed cost reports for internal and external stakeholders, including partners and authorities.
  • Process Development: Create and update cost control procedures to align with evolving project philosophies.

Problem Solving and Improvement

  • Analyze deviations, identify solutions, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Gather lessons learned and contribute to the development of cost control practices across projects.
