Working with our host employer Garden City Plastics we have an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to commence their career with a leader in plastic production and wholesale for the horticulture industry. Currently, they are seeking a first year Tool Maker to join their growing team


What is a tool maker?

A Toolmaker is responsible for achieving maximum levels of machine uptime through the efficient and effective maintenance of tooling and jig fixtures and must ensure the smooth running of machines in order to achieve product integrity (waste minimization) and the maintenance of output targets.

The incumbent is also responsible for the enhancement of new jigs & for providing tooling support as required in new equipment installations and will be involved in a high degree of trouble shooting / fault finding.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Identify causes of breakdowns to tooling and jig
  • Implement repairs of tools
  • Dismantle and clean tools
  • Perform fabrication duties to manufacture jigs, fixtures & tooling
  • Use of manual machine tools such as milling, turning and grinding machines

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Good mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to demonstrate working in a team environment
  • Highly developed trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to cope with pressure when multiple tasks must be undertaken simultaneously
