Salary: GBP35000 - GBP40000 per annum

We’re on the lookout for a Workshop Stone Cutter to join our well established and expanding client based in Melton Mowbray on a full time, permanent basis.

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience).

Hours: 08:00 – 16:30 Monday – Friday.

 

The Role:

As a Workshop Stone Cutter you will be responsible for managing the safe day to day operation of our client’s workshop. Overseeing the rework of Porcelain and natural stone tiles utilising the factory machinery and tools - including – Machine bullnosing/edge finishing, polishing/hand finishing, tumbling and cutting to agreed specifications. Also overseeing the completion of required product samples cutting and finishing to agreed timelines and standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure bespoke Workshop orders are completed to the required standard and within agreed timelines
  • Liaising with sales team staff over order specifications as required
  • Working closely with the Samples Team Manager to plan samples cutting workload
  • Ensure required samples are on schedule and to required standard with minimal waste
  • Basic production scheduling
  • Drive and take ownership of maintaining high levels of housekeeping standards across site
  • Ensuring Health & Safety policies, rules and procedures are always adhered to across site
  • Drive process and procedural adherence and improvement within the workshop operation
  • Scheduling of daily workload and allocation of staff across
  • Ensure machinery and equipment is properly maintained with associated record keeping
  • Order packing and checking as required
  • Ensuring training of staff in all workshop roles as required
  • General responsibility for the site – shared with Samples Team Manager
  • Further workshop improvement projects as required

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Stone Fabrication Experience or relevant experience utilising heavy machinery in a fabrication environment
  • Experience managing a small team of people
  • Experience processing heavy fragile goods
