Have you got an interest in vehicles and a desire to work in the automotive trade? SHB Vehicle Hire & Management are seeking apprentices across their UK depot network.
SHB Hire Ltd is a family owned and operated company which has provided vehicle hire and management for nearly 50 years. They have a diverse fleet of over 16,000 vehicles ranging from cars, standard and specialist LCVs and HGVs to golf buggies and ATVs.
SHB are an award winning company having won the award for Van/Truck Rental Company of the Year at the Commercial Fleet Van Awards 2015 and for Van Rental Company of the Year and Supplier of the Year at the Fleet Van Awards 2014.
They supply to a variety of market sectors including local and central government, infrastructure services, highways, utilities, rail and facilities management.
You will be joining SHB’s team as an apprentice LCV Technician, benefitting from workplace and off site residential training.
SHB, in partnership with ProVQ are offering a number of apprenticeship places across their UK depot network.
This is an opportunity to join a ProVQ supported apprenticeship programme which will see you become a qualified Light Vehicle Technician. This is a 3 year apprenticeship which will result in the successful candidate gaining the “Apprenticeship Standard in Automotive Retail Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle)” Qualification.
As a Light Vehicle Technician you would be involved in a variety of tasks ranging from:
• Servicing and repairs,
• Replacing components
• Using specialist equipment such as electrical and electronic diagnostics
• Rectifying faults on customer’s vehicles in a busy workshop
Part of this programme will include travelling to a State of the art training centre in Atcham, Shrewsbury, and you will be required to attend for a total of 24 weeks over the 3 years. This is on a residential basis broken down into 1 x 2 week induction block, and 22 x 1 week blocks.
Accommodation, and transport from the Apprentice’s home location to Shrewsbury is paid for by the employer, and the Apprentices stay in a local hotel during each block.
Qualifications required:
GCSEs (or equivalent) grades A-C in:
• Maths
• English
