Our client is a waste disposal facility. Due to increased growth they are looking for an experienced Operations Manager with experience in Hazardous Waste, or High-temperature Incineration .
Role & Responsibilities:
- Working alomgside the National Operations Manager, you will manage of all the Cremation, Waste processing general operational functions.
- Develop and manage Manage department performance, managing compliance (HS&E), efficiency, profits, and service for the business in line with statutory regulations.
- Ensure the organisation and compliance ofthe working environment.
- Ensure that the plant, premises, equipment and people and sufficiently resourced and functional.
- Take part in recruitment, and managing and motivating the team, making dififcult decisions when necessary.
- Develop the staff using appropriate training
- Ensure the plants are operated are profitable
- Monitor productivity levels, throughputs figures and processing costs
- Use a lean management philosophy and implement strict & effective cost control measures.·
- Create financial and operational forecasts.
- Develop the operation to allow acceptance of a wider range of waste materials.
- Work alongside the commercial team to ensure available capacity is fully utilized.
- Comply with HSE permit regulations, building strong relationships with both APHA & the EA whilst protecting business interests.
- Champion a Health and Safety culture within the department.
- Keep up to date with legislative changes which relate to the waste sector.
- Set and monitor KPIs for direct reports and carry out performance appraisals to track their progress.
- Collaborate with direct reports to manage service delivery in line with customer expectations.
- Provide performance reports
- Lead the engineering team in developing and implementing both capital projects and the maintenance and asset management.
- Ensure maintenance of ISO accreditations and any other accreditation in collaboration with the Environmental Officer.
- Work with our National Operations Manager on creating annual site CAPEX requirements.
- Attend courses, conferences, and seminars that will improve your knowledge of industry, legislator changes and new initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- A Hazardous Waste COTC, however we are prepared to provide training for a highly experienced candidate.
- IOSH certification.
- Experience of Managing a Waste processing / Incineration site is preferred
- A good understanding of the engineering requirements of a waste management facility
- A strong leader.
- Experience in effective cost control measure management
- Lean Management/5S knowledge.
- Excellent understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation.
- A caring and compassionate nature.
