An exciting opportunity to join a successful award-winning market leader, and now commands operations across South & West Wales at our quarries, concrete and asphalt plants.

They are currently seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor for our Civils Department. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible in providing commercial support to the project team, maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of the Health & Safety At Work Act & construction health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain high standards of best practice in all relevant areas and promote safe behaviour.
  • Responsible for the financial control of projects.
  • Ensure project costs are managed effectively and carry out cost forecasting.
  • Update the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans and have accountability, along with the project team for the commercial performance and strategy.
  • Help ensure that commercial processes are adhered to across the business.
  • Communicates directly with the client and client’s cost manager to ensure financial contract obligations are maintained.
  • Ensure subcontractors are procured on appropriate terms and conditions and ensure financial control of Subcontract accounts.
  • Regularly update construction programme and review progress on-site. Along with any mitigation measures. Ensure the business is covered for all Extension of Time claims to prevent any damages being issued.
  • Build client relationships and actively seek new work.
  • Oversee procurement of major material and plant requirements
  • Submit and agree Applications for Payment
  • Track when client payment certificates are due and send to finance for invoicing.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Previous experience of the civil engineering industry.
  • Experience with JCT & NEC forms of contract.
  • Skilled Communicator.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong IT skills including a high level of competence with ERP Systems and Microsoft packages – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Project Management skills.
  • Collaborate Working.
  • Excellent record keeping.
  • Negotiating skills
  • Driving licence.
