£37,336 - £40,221 basic (+ weekend enhancements, sleep-in duties, secure unit allowance + retention payment £3000k PA payable in December and June @ £1500)
£42,343 - £ 45,513 average earnings (inc. 2 sleep-in average, and secure unit allowance) + retention payment.

Job Purpose:
All staff are required to support the Home's main purpose of encouraging and enabling children and young people to develop attitudinally, behaviourally, educationally and emotionally in order that they may deliver positive contributions to their families, society and their local communities whilst reducing offending, resulting in the decrease in victims of youth crime

Role:
To take the lead role in the day to day leadership and management of a House Unit in the provision of a safe and secure care trauma informed service for children and young people that meets with Childrens Homes Regulations 2015 Youth Justice Standards 2019 and complies with Leeds City Council and the homes policies, procedures and guidance.

To take a lead and active role in the lives of children and young people in assessing their needs and encouraging attitudinal and behavioural change through proactive and positive interaction maintaining a pro-social behaviour, restorative and solution focussed approach. To encourage and foster within the House Unit Staff Team a commitment to continuous growth and development and work in a trauma informed way.

Responsibilities:

To lead and manage a team of Senior Residential Practitioners, Residential Practitioners,
Assistant Residential Practitioners, Students in the delivery of a high-quality care service including risk assessment, risk management, care and interventions programmes that meet the emotional and developmental needs of children and young people.
To work collaboratively and restoratively with other operational managers within the home from education, health, care, business support and casework and interventions.
To, act as the home's Duty Manager/Senior Point of Contact on a rota basis.
To lead, motivate, provide effective and supportive management responses and guidance to staff.
To take a lead in the provision of a safe and stimulating trauma informed environment which provides for assessment, care, education and health of children and young people nurturing their emotional and physical wellbeing.
Ensure the staff team plan, deliver, and participate in opportunities for enrichment, recreational and/or vocational development of children and young people.

Qualifications:
The minimum qualification for this post is Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce. The Level 3 Diploma replaces the previous Level 3 NVQ. Existing qualifications are still valid, and you will not need to retake qualifications. If you do not hold the QCF, Level 5, Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People Services you must be willing to register to commence the course within 3 months of taking up your appointment and complete in a reasonable amount of time. You must also work towards QCF Assessors award.

In depth knowledge of the National Minimum Care Standards for Residential Care for Children
In depth knowledge of Local Authority policies and procedures
In depth knowledge of Child care, Youth Justice systems
In depth knowledge of adolescent growth and development
In depth knowledge of delinquent and challenging behaviour
In depth knowledge of child protection procedures and the impact of abuse
Knowledge and understanding of secure accommodation criteria, purpose and function
Working knowledge of team building, teamwork, group dynamics and motivation
In depth knowledge of Equal Opportunities policies and managing diversity
