Business Application Engineer (BDX Analytics)

For one of our good clients in the Travel & Tourism industry, we are currently looking for a Business Application Engineer who will support Business Applications within Analytics scope, including BI reporting self-serve analytics, analytics discover-ability, metric re-usability, integration required for data modeling and data governance tools.

Discrete Responsibilities and Projects:

1) Reporting

• Support Tableau migration to Cloud and integration with cloud data stores, performance, etc
• Connect different reporting/BI tools (e.g. ThoughtSpot, R) to Snowflake, configure Okta/IAM policies, connection testing, performance monitoring and user support and troubleshooting
• Tableau load speed testing, performance monitoring and user support and query troubleshooting
• Actively monitor BI/reporting tools health and performance, set and monitor relevant SLIs, SLOs, KPIs, and act accordingly when those are violated
• Create a composite role in Snowflake to allow publishing data source with default data warehouse and role assigned in Tableau
• Support Collibra administration, IAM/Okta configuration, environment management, deployment and migration, admin user support

2) Discoverability

• Help design solution to create discover-ability experiences for analytics assets – reports, dashboards, metrics, marts/collections of tables, reporting tables
• As a first step, evaluate and POC Tableau-Collibra connection given requirements to support metric and report discovery
• Depending on the ThoughtSpot POV exercise, integrate with Collibra data catalogue and support associated work such as reliability, user support and troubleshooting

3) Metric Reusability 

• Build or support development of metric reusability tools, such as semantic layer and metric stores – likely integrating and configuring and supporting a third-party offering.
• As a first step, deliver POC of dbtcloud’s metrics layer solution in BDX
• Support collaboration with Customer Data team to improve metric re-usability and discover-ability

4) Business Applications administration

• Configure Okta integration on various Business Applications in Analytics scope
• Develop middle-ware between Business Applications
• Implement configurations of Business Applications according to the requirements

Broader/Longer-Term Responsibilities

• Support performance, operations, upgrades, user support for the BI/reporting suite of tools
• Independently manage BI/reporting tools or services by working through deployment and operations in production
• Evaluate possible architecture solutions for BI/reporting tools by taking into account the cost, business requirements, technology requirements and emerging technologies
• Meet business needs by designing solutions that meet current requirements and are adaptable for future enhancements
