Job title: Grounds and Building Maintenance Manager

Job Purpose: To manage the maintenance of the grounds and the main building in Cambridge, Ensuring efficient and effective service delivery for the clients of the building.

Responsibilities:

  1. Building Maintenance:
    • Perform painting and decorating of offices and communal areas.
    • Conduct small electrical works, including changing light bulbs, installing sockets, and setting up Wi-Fi points.
    • Conduct site inspections to identify maintenance needs.
    • Execute minor on-site maintenance and repairs.
    • Schedule and supervise contractors for major repairs, ensuring satisfactory completion of their work.
    • Assist with office re locations.
    • Operate maintenance technology, including air conditioning, fire alarm systems, and security alarm systems.
    • Record weekly water and gas usage.
  2. Grounds Maintenance:
    • Maintain the grounds to a professional standard, which includes lawn care, pruning, trimming, tree maintenance, car park upkeep, block paving maintenance, drainage clearance, and external lighting maintenance.
    • Promote environmental practices such as composting and recycling on-site.
    • Encourage ecological opportunities through initiatives like small animal housing and minimizing the use of harmful chemicals.
    • Contact suppliers for major tasks (e.g., large tree removal) and acquire landscaping supplies after obtaining budgetary approval from a Director.
    • Maintain an inventory of machinery and supplies used in grounds maintenance.
  3. Health and Safety:
    • Conduct risk assessments.
    • Supervise contractors on-site to ensure adherence to safe working practices.
    • Ensure client compliance with the company’s safety requirements.
  4. Additional Duties:
    • Be available for emergency call-outs.
    • Act as a key-holder.
    • Undertake additional duties as necessary to meet the needs of the company.
