 JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction, the Designer – Draughter is responsible for applying knowledge and experience gained in managing multiple projects including process engineering, general design, project management, start-up, and inspection, ensuring accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.

 

Job Description: Designer – Draughter

  • Create AutoCAD 2D layouts, P & I Ds (from marked templates), foundation drawings and conveying systems with limited guidance
  • Utilise AutoCAD and Plant software to create 3D models including steelwork and equipment.
  • Understand the factors affecting Extractor and DTDC draughting such that significant changes can be made to arrangement and detail drawings
  • Use Plant P & I D software to create intelligent P & I Ds in conjunction with a Process Engineer and develop valve, instrument and line data
  • Understand the potential impact of code requirements on vessel construction
  • Engage in UK and overseas travel for site visits and collaboration as required
  • Provide guidance for Level I Designers and check their work if requested.
  • Gain in depth knowledge of group equipment using internal learning resources, to enable informed creation of layouts and associated details
  • Occupy lead role for the draughting input on a single process green field projec

Essential Skills: Designer – Draughter

  • Educated to minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering (design bias)
  • Demonstrated expertise in AutoCAD 2D and 3D
  • Sound understanding of engineering practice and procedures
  • Having a basic knowledge of piping systems, materials, and routing principles

 

Proficient in the following skill :

  • Use of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel (Basic Level) and File Explorer
  • Process Flow Diagram creation from marked up templates
  • Process & Instrumentation Drawing creation from marked up templates
  • Layout draughting o Vessel and machine draughting
  • Fabrication and detail draughting
  • Self-organise when working across multiple projects, under direction from Level III Designer-Draughter or the Designer/Manage
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of spoken and written English
  • Communicate effectively with sub-contractors, suppliers, and design facilities as required
  • Possess high integrity and ethics
