Formulation Scientist (BBBH379538) Port Sunlight, England

Salary: GBP15.24 - GBP16.94 per hour

We are currently seeking an interim Formulation Scientist, to work with our global FMCG client renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based at our client’s scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run until end of December 2024, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying between £29,719 and £33,027 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

Unilever is a fast-moving consumer goods company, and the global hair format team is looking for a formulation scientist to help deliver our innovative hair products that will delight the consumer. Our team has the advantage of being part of the new product delivery from the beginning to the end. Working across various brands such as Sunsilk, Tresemme, Dove, Nexxus, Andrelon and many more all over the world and a diverse product range: shampoo, conditioners, leave-on creams and aerosol formulations. This role will involve formulation development and quality assessment to create the final product. Our ambition is to create irresistible products that have superior performance, sustainable & cost effective!

 Main Accountabilities

  • Making hair formulations: shampoo, rinse-off conditioners and leave-on products.
  • Performing product quality check analysis as well as product performance measurements.
  • Preparation of hair aerosol products by filling and crimping the cans.
  • Conducting product qualification and product quality studies, including product stability, product compatibility, corrosion and blockage tests.
  • Collates, analyses, and communicates data and insights.
  • Delivers written reports and oral communications within the team.
  • Supporting the delivery of hair innovation projects by testing products, generating, and analysing data, reporting back to the team.

Essential Experience / Skills

  • Preferred BSc/MSc in a scientific discipline.
  • Preferred lab experience (quality control/formulation)
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, hardworking, loyal, and committed.
  • Technical skills with technical curiosity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
