Shifts: A mix of 8:30am - 8:30pm days and 8:30pm - 8am waking nights, sometimes with sleep-ins available
Contract type: Flexible agency work
Pay: £8.50 - £9.20 per hour including holiday pay for standard hours / £10.50 - £11.77 per hour including holiday for waking nights
Requirements: YOU MUST HOLD A FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE DUE TO RESPONSIBILITIES WHILE ON SHIFT. YOU WILL ALSO BE REQUIRED TO HOLD PBS TRAINING FOR WAKING NIGHT SHIFTS.
The opportunity:
Do you want to make a difference to the lives of adults with Autism? We are looking for passionate people to support our client in Newport who have a home for adults with Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs. The home currently supports three male adults with Autism. There are varying levels of personal care involved.
Due to the needs of the adults at the home, you must have experience with challenging behaviours and hold current PBS training if you are interested in waking night shifts. If you do not hold this training, you will be required to pay for a three-day PBS training course before working during the night.
Not only will you be working in the most rewarding sector there is, but you’ll also be in control of when you work and where you work. As well as supporting this home in Newport, you will have the chance to work at a variety of care services across South Wales (Cardiff and the Vale, Torfaen, RCT, Blaenau Gwent, Newport and more). We support residential homes for adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health needs as well as children’s residential homes, transitional services and respite care for 9 - 21 year olds. Shifts available:
The home we support in Newport generally require 12 hour days or waking nights. This is similar to most residential services, although there are also sometimes sleep-in shifts available which can boost your hours and pay! We do have other services who require various shifts so it is best to get in contact about what you are looking for in particular.
Your experience:
In an ideal world, you will have at least six months experience supporting adults with complex needs. On the other hand, we also love giving people the opportunity to experience a new sector who have supported other client groups within the Social Care sector but always wanted the chance to support adults with Learning Disabilities!
The pay:
As a residential support worker, you will earn between £8.21 and £11.77 per hour dependent on what hours you work. You’ll be paid on a weekly basis and have the choice of earning holiday pay straight away or accruing your holiday throughout the year.
