Description:
Duties: Included but not limited to installation, setup, end-to-end system alignment, running RF calculations, digital voltage diagnosis, and testing with fault diagnosis during implementation and on operational Land Mobile Radio (LMR) radio P25 and Open Sky networks and associated console and user equipment, with the aid of PC-based programs, schematics, service manuals and drawings.
Programming and installation of mobile radios, antennas and accessories, perform unit swap and associated tests in a variety of vehicles.
Must have at least 2 years of experience working with the following tools/equipment; basic hand tools, cable crimpers for RJ-11, RJ-45, RF connectors such as N, BNC and TNC connectors, Communications Service Monitors, Communication Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Site Masters (Return Loss Bridge) Digital Volt Meters. Transmission Impairment Measurement Sets. Understand and troubleshoot Fiber optic networks, Multiplexers, Network topology, Fractional T-1, and Network Technology. Use Laptops, PCs with software for programming and troubleshooting, understand the basics of Cisco routers and switches for networking.
Knowledge of AC and DC power sources/supplies, including single and 3 Phase AC and 12/24VDC & Negative 48VDC power supplies and emergency generators with automatic transfer switches. Using T1 Testers and Ether scopes for testing T1 circuits and Ethernet connectivity. Ability to use test equipment for troubleshooting RF, electrical, electronic circuits. Implement software & firmware changes on communications equipment (Upload, Download & SW Regression), installing new software and hardware into various devices.
Land Mobile Radio (LMR) radio communication information system networks experience (Cisco, Sun, HP Open View, NOC, wireless P25 Digital Simulcast Trunked Radio Systems, Open Sky, TDMA, LTE, SCADA, and Conventional).
Programming and installation fiber optic system, microwave T1 and Ethernet network connectivity to support mobile radios, antennas and accessories, perform unit swap and associated tests in a variety of vehicles. Maintaining 802.11 N/AC Wi-Fi networks both mobile and fixed, VLANs, encrypted tunnels, network performance and network health, MPLS routers, network switches microwave and fiber optic systems.
Mounting, cabling, initial set-up and testing of site equipment, fault isolation and replacement at the unit level.
Ensure that safety practices are being followed at all times, maintain and preserve company owned equipment and ensure it is kept in good repair at all times.
Work in a team environment and train new employees in the correct system and test procedures when required.
Complete test records, fault reports, and all other project and equipment related documentation and forward to installation supervisor.
Provide customer support and technical assistance to program managers, customers and co-workers requiring telephone or on-site support.
Land Mobile Radio - minimum 5 years experience on complex multi-platform communication systems, P25 or digital communication systems experience would be preferred.
Minimum of Associates Degree or Vocational School Certificate in an electronics field - computers, networking, Radio Frequency, etc.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Access) as well as touch typing.
Ability to meet internal paperwork requirements for time card input, expense and PCard reports, and service tickets.
Ability to travel on short notice locally (less than one day). International travel is not expected.
Valid driver's license required.
