Great chance for a talented Grails Developer, or a Java Software Engineer to join an exciting eCommerce start-up in a role that will offer the chance to quickly progress into a CTO role.
We’re looking for a gifted hands-on Grails Developer that will relish the chance to take ownership of technical architecture, low-level detailed design and building a brilliant development team. The company is well funded, with backing from some of Europe’s leading venture funds, so all the ingredients are in place to create another hit web product.
The Role - Grails Developer
Working in a very fast-paced, Agile (Scrum) software development environment, the Grails Developer will join a small group of brilliant, ambitious techies that are determined on disrupting a £10 billion market.
The Grails Developer role is very much hands-on; as a technical lead you’ll be up to your waist in code and will be an authority on delivering clean, robust and elegant code to solve the problems at hand. However, you will also take ownership of the technology, with total autonomy on architecture and low-level, detailed design.
We are looking for extremely talented and passionate developers / engineers, who are excited by start-ups, cool product ideas and can contribute as the driving force behind a formidable development team. Alongside code and architecture, you’ll be able to constantly refine engineering processes and agile build / release methods and tools. In order to qualify for the top salary bracket, you must be able to show how you’ve helped a development team improve through your coding, process or tooling expertise.
If Java is just one of the languages you have used, then all the better. The existing team uses Java and Groovy with modern frameworks like Spring and Grails. We’d love to hear about the applications you have built at home, or the open-source projects you have contributed to. Being involved in the community is something we’re passionate about.
Essential Skills
* Experienced in the development of complex web-based applications, ideally with high-traffic, transactional web or eCommerce sites.
* Strong skills as a Grails Developer, using Groovy, Grails, Java 6 / 7 and J2EE
* Superb communication skills - you will participate in daily Scrum meetings, so must be naturally bright and assertive
* A track-record of working on either high-traffic eCommerce sites, in disruptive web start-ups or for large-scale, mature agile development departments in major broadcast or .com companies
Desirable Skills
* Expert Groovy / Grails development experience
* Previous experience of an Agile Development environment using Scrum
* Java / J2EE using Spring 3 / Spring MVC / Spring IoC / Spring Security
