Position: Construction Materials Field Technicians

Location: The Midlands / Dublin / Louth

Salary: Neg DOE

On behalf of one of Irelands leading concrete companies we are looking for Construction Materials Field Technicians for The Midlands, Dublin and Louth.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Carry out sampling and testing of a wide range of construction materials produced at our quarries and plants including Aggregates and Stone fill, Bituminous Materials, Lime, Ready-mix Concrete and Concrete Blocks.
  • Significant onsite support of customer concrete pours including liaising with concreting operators on-site, carrying out workability testing and making cube specimens.
  • Onsite technical and testing support of asphalt laying activities for both external customers and the companies Road Surfacing business.
  • Ensure the efficient day to day operation of the materials laboratory.
  • Draft thorough and concise observations of relevant test information.
  • Log and complete worksheets correctly and provide quality reports where required.
  • Monitor quality and conformity of all materials and ensure that appropriate corrective action(s) are agreed upon and implemented with Production/Operations Management in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all activities under your control comply with company quality management systems.
  • Maintain, calibrate and operate test apparatus and other testing equipment.
  • Be fully compliant with Company Health & Safety: policies, procedures, systems and rules, report all hazards and incidents and ensure that you work safely at all times.

Qualifications & Experience

  • The roles would ideally suit candidates with experience within the concrete / building materials / quarry products industry or within construction more generally, however comprehensive on the job training will be provided for candidates who may not have the experience but are keen to develop their skills within our industry.

Skills & Abilities

  • Willingness and ability to carry out physical activities associated with sampling and testing of construction materials (the role requires regular lifting, carrying and processing of bulky materials).
  • Good mathematical and numerical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven I.T. skills including good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel etc.
  • Excellent attention to detail particularly with regard to written records.
  • Excellent time management ability.
  • A full driving licence valid in Ireland (a liveried company van will be provided for work purposes for travel between company locations and customers sites).
